The award winning application is for ‘Safe Motherhood and Child Survival’ project; implemented in partnership with the Department of Health and Family Welfare (DOHFW), Government of Gujarat by Deepak Charitable Trust. It aims to lower maternal and infant deaths in the district. This e-innovation is utilizing trained village women ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) to record health data which is then compiled at the block and district level. Vadodara is the only district in Gujrat where all ASHAs have been trained in tracking pregnant and nursing mothers having infants so that the services reach out to the community. Through this e-system, health data of over 219,852 pregnant and nursing women that ensured timely referral of high risk women and children has been successfully compiled, thereby saving their lives. SafalHealth software is an example of how Information Technology (IT) can be taken to the villages to improve their health status. |
